Drumlanrig, Isle of Islay
A comfortable and characterful cottage, close to Islay's most fabulous beaches
The coastline of sandy beaches, rock pools and wild Atlantic waves is just two miles away. Close by, moorlands; peat-brown burns; rocky hillsides; ancient standing stones and the farm distillery at Kilchoman all invite exploration. Further afield there are cafes, restaurants, shops, galleries and of course more distilleries . . .
On the edge of the small cluster of houses nestled on a low ridge with beautiful west-facing views over Loch Gorm to Islay's atlantic coast, Drumlanrig is an 1850s 4-bedroomed stone-built cottage providing spacious self catering holiday accommodation for up to 6 people. The location is quiet and private without being isolated.
Close to an RSPB reserve, and within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, Drumlanrig is surrounded by outstanding landscapes and wildlife.
"A home from home perfectly situated with daily sightings of a Hen harrier close to the cottage, a White tailed Sea Eagle, Golden Eagle, (near RSPB Gruinart), numerous deer, hares, terns, lapwing, cuckoos and otters. A wonderful holiday on this beautiful island.” - NH, June 2021
Whether your interest is in birdwatching, malt whisky, geology, mankind's early history or just exploring for yourself a lovely Hebridean island, there is something for everyone.
